The Help (Book 20/50)

"You is smart. You is kind. You is important."
If you thought the movie was amazing (like I did), then you should definitely read the book. This book is written during the historical early 1960's in Jackson, MS. Though the book is fictional, it follows the history of the civil rights movement, including the death of Medgar Evans, a member of the NAACP.
I think that even though this took place in the South, many are naive to think that this still does not continue. In some ways, people are still categorized by their profession or their ethnicity. Will we ever truly get away from this? Who knows.

What is important and shines through is the love that Aibileen has for Mae Mobley, and Minny caring for Miss Celia. It's a true saying that "love knows no bounds", racial or otherwise. It's like the "Love Chapter" of 1 Corinthians.
